TeamApt Inc. is now Moniepoint Inc.: here’s why we’re changing our name, and what’s different.
TeamApt was founded in 2015 with the aim of providing financial happiness by creating infrastructure and payment solutions for financial institutions and banks. We needed an apt team, so the name “TeamApt” came naturally, but a lot has changed since then.
In 2019, we took a different approach and decided to achieve our mission more directly. We began by offering financial solutions to merchants through our flagship product, Moniepoint. With time, Moniepoint has grown to become an all-in-one tool for businesses, offering a comprehensive solution that includes payments, business banking, credit, and business management.
We’ve also hit a few milestones along the way. We currently process the majority of the POS transactions in Nigeria with an annualised Total Payments Volume (TPV) of more than $170 billion. Our customer base grew to over 600,000 businesses which enabled us to more than double our annual revenues in 2022. Also in 2022, we became QED’s first investment in Africa, were named Linkedin's top company to work for, and won the National Inclusive Payment Initiative Award.
Each of these milestones has come from our deep devotion to helping businesses grow. We recognise that businesses are an essential part of not just the economy but everyday lives. With the solutions we provide for our businesses, we’re able to touch people out there every day, powering not just their businesses but their dreams. This is our goal.
We’re also relocating our headquarters to London, inspired by our strong ambition to be an employer of choice, not just in Africa, but globally.
This rebrand represents the next level in our growth as we intensify our devotion to making access to digital financial services available to businesses in Nigeria and everywhere across the Africa.
Our commitment to keep doing this is a great driving force for this change. Every business deserves a shot at greatness, and as Moniepoint, we’re doubling down and working to create a world where businesses everywhere, no matter their size or stage, have the necessary tools they need to grow.
